Meet Dr. Fabiola Ortega

I truly love my profession. I feel that everyone in life is looking for that genuinely fulfilling career, and I am fortunate to have found it. It is my passion, and I value the trust patients and their parents put in me every day.

I specialize in special needs, behavioral management, and cosmetic dentistry in children. I love the interaction and use my ability to connect with my young patients to make them comfortable during treatment. As a mother of a young son, I understand that a child’s earliest dental experiences are paramount, and I treat each child as if they were my own.

I obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminology with a minor in Public Health from the University of South Florida in Tampa. Following graduation, I completed my Doctorate of Dental Surgery at Howard University where I received several awards including the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Predoctoral Student Award, National Dental Association Award in General Dentistry, Distinction from the Department of Restorative Services, and was inducted in the Honors program. I was also a recipient of the Class of 1962 Ethics Research Paper Award.

I continued on to complete my pediatric specialty training at Howard University, providing treatment for children at Howard University Hospital and Hospital for Sick Children Pediatric Center.

I have volunteered at the Special Olympics, Give Kids a Smile Day, was committee member of HUCD Clinic Pipe-Line Program sponsored by Robert Wood Johnson, and participate in dental missions to Guatemala. During my residency, I worked at Catholic Charities in Maryland and provided dental care to underprivileged Hispanic children.

I am an active member of the American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, American Association of Women Dentists, and the National Dental Association.

I was born in Managua, Nicaragua and raised in Miami, Florida. I live in Miami with my partner and our son, as well as our two dogs Frankie the Frenchie and Scully the golden retriever, and two yellow-belly turtles named Nibbles and Ralfy. If I’m not working, I spend my time with my family trying new restaurants. We love to eat! You can also find me at the gym!
